Mawson

Canberra suburbs have a lot of open spaces and pedestrian pathways. In the Woden Valley area it's usually possible to walk from any house to the local shops without having to walk alongside busy roads.

The open stormwater drains are a distinctive feature of Canberra.

One of Canberra's virtues is the many pedestrian underpasses. In most suburbs pedestrians and cyclists can use underpasses and so avoid having to cross busy roads.

Red Hill Park

It's very dry in Canberra at the moment. After having a much wetter than average December last year, there has hardly been any rain in the first 3 months of this year.

Lake Burley Griffin

Lake Burley Griffin divides Canberra into the northside and the southside. This is the view from a park near the Kingston foreshore development. Taken on a cloudy autumn afternoon.
