Every year Canberra holds the Floriade festival to celebrate the start of spring. Even if you're not that into flowers (like me) it is a lovely, free thing to go to and enjoy. There are performers and market stalls as well as rides and a petting zoo for the kids. You can take your own picnic lunch or buy lunch from one of the many food vendors.

Mount Taylor
Mount Taylor is the second highest mountain within the bounds of Canberra city. At 855m Mt Taylor rises almost 200m above the surrounding suburbs. It is bordered by Weston Creek, Woden Valley, and the Tuggeranong Valley.
